My Vision

Robert has a vision for our community. As someone who has lived in Don Valley East for over 23 years, Robert understands our community and what needs to be done for our children to succeed. Robert will fully involve our community in decision making to ensure that you are represented at the TDSB. In the future the TDSB will face unique challenges and Robert will be a strong advocate at the TDSB and at all levels of government for a stronger community!

No to Cutbacks and Closures

  • Oppose cuts to schools, pools, staff, outdoor education and recreation programs.
  • Advocate for greater public investments in our public schools to strengthen them.

Schools and the Community

  • Transform our public schools into community hubs on weeknights and weekends.
  • Ensure affordable public use of our school facilities.
  • Work to ensure that our elementary schools are within walking distance from students’ homes.
  • Support the creation of daycare spaces and after-school programs.
  • Invest in our school infrastructure for future generations.

Working with You

  • Directly involve residents, parents, students and educators in the decision making process.
  • Host Ward Forums to listen to community needs and concerns.
  • Actively participate in parent councils within our Ward to support local issues.
  • Send out community updates to keep you engaged and informed.
  • Committed to being accountable to all stakeholders.

The Environment

  • Support the EcoSchools program that promotes energy conservation, community clean-ups and waste minimization.
  • Support outdoor learning to give children a early appreciation for the natural world.
  • Support green purchasing policies for the Toronto District School Board.
  • Work to make our public schools leaders in sustainability and conservation.

Supporting Education

  • Support programs in athletics, drama, music and the arts so students receive a well-rounded educational experience.
  • Better prepare high school students for post-secondary education and the skilled trades.
  • Support tutoring and mentorship in our school system.
  • Support ESL programs, special education, and adult classes in order to ensure every student can achieve their full potential.
  • Support and promote diversity in our public schools.
  • Provide more support for new immigrants in our public school system.

Safe Schools

  • Support youth mentorship and after school recreational programs to build community and self-confidence.
  • Increase bullying prevention programs and advocate for programs to help our children become aware of potential dangers and risks.
  • Ensure that every school is a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Support student-led initiatives to tackle discrimination and promote acceptance of all students.
  • Support increases to hall monitors, lunch supervisors and student supervision.
  • Increase conflict resolution programs within our schools.

Fiscal Responsibility

  • Ensure that every dollar is spent wisely and responsibly.
  • Promote energy conservation in TDSB properties to reduce energy expenses.

Nutrition in the Toronto District School Board

  • Support student nutrition both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Advocate for healthy food options and breakfast programs in schools.
  • Tie nutrition programs to locally-produced, organic food to have a minimal environmental impact.
